General Membership Meeting - January 20th at 6 pm

 

You are invited to join our first 2022 PTSA General Membership Meeting on Thursday, January 20th at 6 pm. Join the meeting here

We will be also electing our Nominating Committee and open board positions for the current school year (treasurer and VP of Enrichment and Grants).

 

The Nominating Committee is made up of three volunteers, who contact and interview prospective board members for next year’s PTSA board. Training and resources will be provided, this is a short-term position starting in February and ending in April. 

 

And last but not least, we'll have a discussion about LWSD 2022 levy and how our PTSA will support them. For more information on levies visit the district website at 2022 Levies - Lake Washington School District (lwsd.org)

ARTSMART IS COMING BACK!! - MANDATORY TRAINING

 

Please sign up to volunteer for your student's class here. No experience is necessary -only a desire to bring arts education to our students. We provide all materials and lesson plans.  Orientations will be held to go over grade-level specific projects, tour the Art Room, and special clay training.  Volunteers do not need to have any art experience, or even be able to draw. There are many aspects of volunteering under the Art Smart umbrella.

 

In order to volunteer in Rosa Parks Elementary, you will need to register with LWSD which will include proof of vaccination.  Check the status of your volunteer application and learn more details here

 

A new requirement for participating with Art Smart will be a COVID Safety Training led by Principal Melissa Doering which will be held:

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!

 

Have you ever considered joining our Board? Now might be the right time! We are looking to fill out some open positions as Board Members, chairs, and committees. Consider joining us, learn how our PTSA works, and bring your ideas to the table.

 

• Treasurer: Maintain the PTSA’s financial records, budget development, collect and disperse funds and generate financial reports, the approximated time commitment is 8 hours per month.

 

• Enrichment and Grants VP: Responsible for overseeing school enrichment programs and managing grants to the school/teachers, the approximate time commitment is 8 hours per month.

 

• Membership Chair: Work to maintain member records and promote PTSA membership, the approximate time commitment is 1 hour per month.

 

• Birthday Books Chair: Work with our librarian to implement the library’s Birthday Book Club, the approximate time commitment is 1 hour per month.

 

• Nominating Committee: The sole purpose of this committee is to find a slate of nominees for the executive committee for the following year. Committee serves from January-March and is dissolved following the election, the approximate time commitment is 2 hours per month.

 

• Financial Review Committee: Review PTA’s financial records to ensure accuracy and fiscal accountability, the approximate time commitment is a 6 hours total.

Washington State PTA Recognizes Rosa Parks PTSA with the Platinum Membership Growth Award
 
 Rosa Parks PTSA has recently been recognized by Washington State PTA as a Platinum Membership Growth Award recipient! PTAs are presented with this award for enrolling at least 20% more members this year compared to last year. That means our PTA is growing!
 
Thank you to everyone who has become a member so far this year: YOU are the reason our PTA achieved this award! If you haven’t yet signed up for a 2021-2022 PTA membership, please consider joining today! By doing so, you are demonstrating your support for our PTA and all it does for all our Pumas!

LWPTSA Award

Rosa Parks PTSA was awarded LWPTSA Council’s You Rock Award at the December 2020 General Membership Meeting. The award was granted for going remote in the fall offering many events and activities. More info here
