Two Hour Late Start & Buses on Snow Routes

Due to continued compact snow and ice on neighborhood side streets, and our ongoing work to ensure appropriate staffing at all our schools, Lake Washington School District will open two hours late on Monday, January 3, 2022. Buses will operate on snow routes.

The following programs are canceled: All Preschool services; Pull-out Quest; morning extended day; before school music; and out-of-district transportation.

Again, all LWSD schools will open two hours late and buses will operate on snow routes. We will notify families by 8:30 a.m. should there be any school closures due to changing conditions.

Please drive carefully and remind your child to be safe.

Art Smart is coming back!

Add yourself to the communication list by signing up here

No experience is necessary -only a desire to bring arts education to our students. We provide all materials and lesson plans.  Orientations will be held to go over grade-level specific projects, tour the Art Room, and special clay training.  Volunteers do not need to have any art experience, or even be able to draw. There are many aspects of volunteering under the Art Smart umbrella.

In order to volunteer in Rosa Parks Elementary, you will need to register with LWSD which will include proof of vaccination.  Check the status of your volunteer application and learn more details here

A new requirement for participating with Art Smart will be an Orientation led by Principal Melissa Doering which will be held in January.

We're excited to reopen the Art Room and enrich our students' learning.

Bulletin Board Volunteers

Do you have some time to spare during school hours? Rosa Parks is seeking volunteers to decorate bulletin boards and display student artwork on bulletin boards in common learning areas. Volunteers must be LWSD approved and have their COVID-19 vaccination status filed with the district. Masking and social distancing will apply on school property. Please find more information and the signup here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094AAFAF2FA7F85-bulletin.

Math Adventures Needs Volunteers!

Do you enjoy playing board games and sharing the joy of STEM with kids? PTSA is looking for parent volunteers to help out with our amazing Math Adventures/STEM program with your kid’s class.  Working with our amazing teachers, we donate 1-2 hrs a month to play STEM-related games with our students.

There are many roles you can fulfill from being a classroom STEM coordinator to volunteering your time to play games with the kids.  No experience is necessary and everything you need is right on campus.  If you are interested in volunteering for STEM, please contact STEM@ROSAPARKSPTSA.ORG with your name and kid’s teacher.  You do need to be an approved volunteer with your vaccination status on record.

If you want to check your volunteer status (needs to be renewed every two years), start a new application, or get your vaccination status on record please go to https://www.lwsd.org/get-involved/volunteering-in-lwsd.

Updated Volunteer Requirements

Rosa Parks is happy to welcome our volunteers back into our school. At this time, volunteers are allowed in the building, but not in the classrooms or shared learning spaces.

LWSD is following Governor Inslee’s vaccination mandate regarding K-12 volunteers. As of October 18, volunteers in our schools will have to be vaccinated. There are now two ways for volunteers to show proof of vaccination. These will be available until at least Oct. 18: In-person and Remote through Microsoft Teams. Visit this link to learn more.

As a reminder, all volunteers will need to be an approved LWSD volunteer, follow the current masking and physical distancing requirements, and sign in at the school office.

If you have any questions about your approval status, please contact Chris Robison. If you’ve let your volunteer approval status lapse or you need to apply for the first time, please fill out the online application.
